Coal

Areas of coal use are quite large. Coal is purchased wholesale numerous energy companies, as well as companies working in the fields of medical and chemical industries.

Regular shipments of coal are needed for semi-coking and gasification, production of various kinds of ennobled fuel (liquid and gaseous products), in the manufacture of bricks, lime burning, heating, in the chemical industry and many other society’s areas.

Gas coal (mark G) is used as the energy and domestic fuel, for the production of spherical absorbers and molded coke, as well as for the semi-coking and gasification. Low-ash vitrinite coals of this brand are the necessary raw materials for the production of high-quality synthetic liquid fuels.

In Russia and many other countries brown coal is used much less as fuel than black coal, but due to the low cost it is more popular in small boiler rooms and sometimes it is used up to 80%. Used for solid and powdered combustion (brown coal while storage dries out and crumbles). In Greece and Germany brown coal is used in steam power stations, producing till 50% of electricity in Greece and 25% in Germany.

Technologies for getting of liquid hydrocarbonaceous fuel from the brown coal by distillation are used increasingly.

After distillation, the residue is suitable for producing carbon black. It is used for the production of combustible gas, coal-alkali reagents and montan wax (mineral wax).

There are the following deposits of brown coal mined in Russia:

• Kansk-Achinsk coal field, located a few hundred kilometers to the east of the Kuznetsk Basin in the Krasnoyarsk krai and partly in the Kemerovo and Irkutsk regions of Russia. This Central Siberian basin has significant energy reserves of brown coal. The production is mainly carried out open cut mining (the opened part of the pool is 45 thousand square kilometers - 143 billion tons of coal, coal reservoir of 15 - 70 m.).

• Soltonskoe coal deposit - is located in the Altai. Estimated reserves are about 250 million tons. Coal is mined by open cut method. Currently, the proven reserves of brown coal in the two fields are about 34 million tons.

• Tungus Coal Basin is located on the territory of the Sakha Republic and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The main part of it is located in the Central Yakut plain of the Lena River and its tributaries (Aldan and Vilyuya) basin. The area is about 750,000 square kilometers. The total geological reserves to a depth of 600 meters - more than 2 trillion tons.

Coal trade market is always changing, the system of fixed prices gives away to flexible trading patterns. In these circumstances, we are constantly expanding our presence in the global market, successfully supplying coal since 2008.

Transportation:

Most part of the produced coal is consumed internally-in the countries-producers. The international market takes about 15% of the produced coal, mainly from the fields of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. However, the constant growth of the Asian market leads to globalization, and the expansion of trade routes map. Every year, increasing the area of presence, we regularly ship lots of brown and gas coal. So in 2014 the total volume of coal shipments to all markets was more than 400 000 tonnes.

As far as the coal cost as a product is low, the main part of the price is transport costs; that is why we are constantly developing and improving flexible, reliable supply chain between mining companies, land and sea carriers, terminals worldwide.
